According to ITRC Data Breach Reports, over 169 million personal records were exposed in 2015, stemming from 178 publicized breaches across the financial, business, education, healthcare and government sectors. In addition, the average cost of per each stolen record was $154.

For some quick math, that means that the 169 million personal records stolen cost over $26 BILLION dollars.
